CLR Plays Host to I-95 Late Model Challenge Saturday Night, May 30

Elm City, NC – Racing returns to County Line Raceway in Elm City this Saturday night featuring the best dirt track racing in the state. The I-95 Late Model Challenge headlines the card and returns for round number two of the season at the bullring nestled four miles off of I-95. The Weekly Racing Series presented by Lee Motor Group also features the local stars of the ARCO Restoration Limited Sportsman, Super Stock Four Cylinder, Pure Stock V-8 and DRU Auto Sales and Service Pure Stock Four Cylinders. As we head toward the mid-point of the season, drivers will be after every point possible as we close in on crowning the 2015 champions.

The I-95 Late Model Challenge rolls into town as part of a double header weekend with Brinkleyville’s, Clary’s Speedway playing host on Friday night. Who will be the points leader coming through the gates Saturday night at County Line Raceway is anyone’s guess? Currently, Dean Bowen leads the way by a mere 2 points over Deleware’s Robbie Emory. Keith Jacobs sits third only 8 points back. County Line regular, Christian Joyner is fourth, 15 points out of the lead and Chris Blackwell and Zack Blackwell are tied for fifth, 17 points out. Saturday’s Late Model feature will be 35 laps paying $2,500 to the winner.

The ARCO Restoration Limited Sportsman division has the closest points battle of the season thus far and will battle it out for 20 laps this Saturday night. Mark Boykin, of Bailey, currently leads Skeeter Liles by just 3 points. Liles, who won the last feature event, hopes his good luck carries over to Saturday night’s feature to make it two in a row. John Proctor, in his first season in the Limited Sportsman division, sits third in points followed by James Meredith and Melvin Edmondson rounding out the top five.

Hunter Bailey claimed the win in the last Super Stock Four Cylinder race and is the only repeat winner in this fiercely competitive division. Bailey has a slight points advantage going into Saturday night’s 20 lap main event over Damien Bryant who sits 34 points back. James Manning is third, just 37 out of the lead, followed by Bill Winstead and Eric Hill who round out the top five.

The Pure Stock V-8 division has a tight points battle at the top between Phillip Lamm and Kevin Beard, with just 11 points separating 1st and 2nd. Lamm, who won the last feature event, hopes his good luck carries over to Saturday night’s 15 lap feature to maintain his points lead. Austin Ferrell, in his first season racing, sits third in points followed by John Killebrew and Josh Bryant rounding out the top five.

The DRU Auto Sales and Service Pure Stock Four Cylinder division has had the highest car count this season and the 15 laps of action has been intense each and every Saturday night. JP Brantley, the only driver in the top five in points with a win, sits atop the board 44 points over Chris Collins. Lee Hardie sits third, Cody Keith fourth, and Robbie Causby is fifth.

Saturday night the action will be fierce as these five divisions blister the 3/8ths mile clay oval in what is sure to be one of the “can’t miss events of the season. Pit gates open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00 and cars are scheduled to hit the track at 7:30. Ticket prices for the I-95 Late Model Challenge Special Event are just $20 for adults in the Grandstand, $5 for kids 11-15 and free for children 10 & under. Pit passes are available for $30.
